The initiative, which commenced on Friday, February 21, 2025, aims to provide essential supplies to sustain beneficiaries during the upcoming Ramadan.

Each food basket contains 25kg of rice, 24kg of maize, 4kg of beans, 2 liters of vegetable oil, and 0.8kg of Maggi cubes. The distribution is being carried out by officials from Markaz Aleawn Alyaquin Humanitarian Service, a local implementing organization. A total of 3,000 food baskets will be distributed in the Ashanti Region, 1,000 in the Greater Accra Region, while the remaining baskets will be shared among communities in the northern parts of Ghana.

The official launch of this year’s distribution took place at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi. Among the dignitaries in attendance were the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Ghana, Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Dakhel, former Chief Executive of the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, Mr. Ofori Agyeman Boadi (representing the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene), representatives from KSrelief, and respected community leaders.

In his address, the Saudi Ambassador highlighted the humanitarian and social efforts of KSrelief, emphasizing the center’s commitment to supporting communities in need. He also expressed gratitude to Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama, for his cooperation and support of the Saudi Embassy and the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action. As Ramadan approaches, he extended his blessings to all Muslims, praying for a month of goodness and prosperity.

Speaking to the media after the launch, Ishmael Mohammed Kamel, Executive Director of Markaz Aleawn Alyaquin Humanitarian Service, expressed appreciation for KSrelief’s ongoing support. “This unwavering support has enabled us to reach the most vulnerable members of our communities, ensuring that no family is left behind during this sacred time of fasting and devotion,” he stated.

Beyond the food distribution project, he acknowledged KSrelief’s extensive humanitarian contributions in Ghana. He noted that last year alone, the organization constructed 52 solar-powered boreholes across various regions, providing clean and safe drinking water to thousands. This year, an additional 14 boreholes—nine hand-pump and five solar-powered—are under construction. These initiatives, he added, reflect KSrelief’s continued commitment to improving lives through sustainable and impactful projects.
